To be the primary focal point for diagnostic professionals seeking to:

  • Expand their skill set and identify new opportunities in the diagnostics industry.

  • Promote the value diagnostics across the healthcare ecosystem.

  • Foster diagnostic innovation.



  • Facilitate dialogue and collaboration between MDG members, companies, healthcare providers, and individuals seeking and providing diagnostics expertise.

  • Provide opportunities for SIG members to develop their skills through sharing of best practices, educational programs, social media, and exchange of diagnostic information and professional training opportunities.

  • Develop and communicate the value of diagnostics to key industry stakeholders.

  • “Give back” to the diagnostics community through mentoring, volunteerism, and/or advocacy.



To be member of this SIG, you must be a member of MDG. Members are expected to attend regular meeting, actively participate in group discussions, and contribute ideas and suggestions.

John Wyatt is Director, Life Sciences at Directional Healthcare Advisors LLC, a leading medical technology advisory firm. Mr. Wyatt recently served as Director, IVD Research Business Unit at SeraCare Life Sciences, where he built a cohesive global commercial team and increased sales revenue by 22%.

Previously, Mr. Wyatt held a senior marketing role with Athena Diagnostics, a division of Quest Diagnostics. In that capacity, he developed and implemented Athena's long-term strategic growth plan in esoteric testing services and launched an innovative testing platform for Alzheimer's disease through Quest's primary care distribution channel.

Prior to Joining Athena, Mr. Wyatt held roles of increasing responsibility in sales, sales management, marketing, and business development at Genzyme Corporation, during which time he helped build the company from a $35M early stage venture to a $4B multi-national, highly diversified biotechnology firm.

In addition to his broad commercial background, Mr. Wyatt offers domain expertise in the areas of in vitro diagnostics, point-of-care diagnostics, molecular diagnostics, personalized medicine, and advanced sequencing technologies. He has extensive experience in medical device reimbursement and healthcare policy, serving as chairman of the Diagnostic Reimbursement Working Group at the Advanced Medical Technology Association (AdvaMed).

He is an active mentor and coach to startups in the diagnostics and life science tools industries, helping early stage companies develop and implement forward-looking commercial strategies. Mr. Wyatt holds a B.S. in Biology from Union College and an MBA from Boston University School of Management.
