Each session will include a core of experts from MDG and 1 -2 CEOs with specific expertise on the given topic.       



To be member of this SIG, you must be a member of MDG. Members are expected to attend regular meeting, actively participate in group discussions, and contribute ideas and suggestions.

Richard "Dick" O’Brien,

Principal, Nagog Hill Partners

Dick O’Brien is a business development consultant, working with clients in medical device and related life sciences fields as well as serving technology/scientific organizations. Mr. O’Brien works with management to increase revenues, secure clear focus and preemptive corporate identification, address and build client relationships, develop strategic approaches, plans, systems and resources for growth in business, and to improve profitable operations for the organization. Mr. O’Brien’s work includes preparing advisory boards for operating and emerging companies. He is an entrepreneur who holds an MBA from Babson College and retired as a captain in the U.S. Navy.



Founder & CEO, Next Stage Solutions


Rudi Scheiber-Kurtz founded Next Stage Solutions, Inc (NSS) in 2002, providing a unique business model offering high level financial expertise to lower middle market companies. In 2009, she restructured NSS to focus on capital and time efficient Growth Advisory services. A team of Managing Directors represent vertical markets as thought leaders and a deep bench of finance and operations professionals supports client’s needs on an interim or long-term basis.


As 1 of 7 Principal Advisors nationwide, Rudi advises SBIR funded companies in the commercialization process as part of the NIH-CAP program. Industries include smart technology, biologics, medical device and robotics. She also acts as an Expert Resource in finance and funding strategies for the program.

Rudi is active with many Boston business associations and organizations. Representative associations include the following:

Rudi received her BS degree from Lesley University and an MBA from the Simmons School of Management. She was raised in Switzerland and holds dual US/Swiss citizenship and speaks German and French fluently. 


Bob Weber,

Principal & Managing Director for Medical Devices and Diagnostics & Manufacturing, Next Stage Solutions


Joining NSS in 2012, Bob is a global financial executive with over 35 years of Commercial and Operational Finance experience in the Life Science space, primarily within the MedTech and Pharmaceutical companies of healthcare giant Johnson & Johnson. In addition, he has direct M&A experience as Director of Business Development for the J&J Orthopaedic Company, and was Vice President of Finance and Management Board member for a foreign based, privately owned Medical Diagnostic company. Possessing extensive financial management experience, Bob has been responsible for financial operations in the US, Canada, and the UK.


Over his career, Bob has held numerous senior financial leadership positions as financial and business advisor in the development and execution of business strategies to support company growth objectives. He has participated in the worldwide commercialization of over 20 new products in highly regulated industries achieving combined revenues of $500 Mil in annual revenue. In addition, he has directed key business initiatives including: integrated worldwide strategic planning processes, implementation of critical business systems, negotiation of strategic business alliances/partnerships, evaluation of new business opportunities, and successful integration of new businesses into parent organizations. With a broad and diverse business background, Bob’s key strengths are within the areas of:

Bob possesses strong business acumen with an ability to understand broad strategy, key business drivers, and operational detail to influence critical thinking and decision making across the entire business. These initiatives include: Worldwide Franchise reporting, Activity Based Management/Costing, R&D Project Planning, ERP implementation, Quality Management Systems, and Executive dashboards.


Bob holds a BS in Finance from Iona College and an MBA in Financial Management from LaSalle University. Additionally, he has participated in numerous Executive Education programs at the Harvard Business School, Wharton School of Business, Columbia, Duke University, and the Kellogg School of Business.
