Website Sunrise Labs

To our new Senior UX Designer:

Imagine your first annual review, one year from today. We are reflecting on your successes with Sunrise Labs. You helped build great medical devices for multiple clients by designing user interfaces and user experiences. Your work has improved the lives of people living with difficult health conditions. Our clients know you by name and you’ve helped us build deep relationships with them. You helped us become their most trusted advisor across repeat projects.

You’ve helped us build deeper relationships with our partners in Sunrise’s engineering teams. They appreciate the vision and definition that you bring to each project. Your work defining the product experience has allowed them to work with greater confidence and speed. They seek you out directly for input in their projects.

Your flexibility crossing over between UX design and UX research helped younger team members learn the ropes and extended our reach through their development. You grew as a designer and charted a path for yourself within our team. You identified areas of our department you could own, and we worked together to support your growth. Your collaborations with our visual & UI designers have elevated our craft as a team.

I’ve enjoyed seeing you bring your whole self into our team and help shape our growth. You’ve contributed to our company’s culture in your own authentic way, and we’ve won another award for being New Hampshire’s #1 best company to work for. I’m proud to see you represent our team with everything you have achieved.

What’s it like in the User Centered Design team at Sunrise Labs?

We are a newer team within a 100-person consultancy capable of providing Total Product Development. Sunrise Labs can tackle any aspect of Medical Device design and we seek out tough technical problems to solve. We treat each other with respect and act with high integrity.

The UCD team defines how the people living with difficult health conditions interact with the complex systems that improve their lives. We simplify medical technology and make it fit into the lives of the humans using it. We design with empathy.

We start with an assumption of positive intent. We use this belief to drive open and honest communication within our company and with our clients.

We’ve been around and understand that design is a broad field. We are looking for a new teammate who can help in some areas. No one covers everything, so let’s talk about where you feel like you can contribute:

  • Experienced judgment breaking down client projects into actionable problems to solve
  • Interviews with end users and stakeholders to help our team develop interview data into deep insights and design principles
  • Workflows, architectures, wireframes which help our collaborators see how the human perceives the product and experience
  • Prototypes designed to answer critical questions quickly and efficiently
  • Engage the broader design community with thoughtful written or spoken contributions to the practice of design, identifying Sunrise Labs as a home for great design

We use these tools, but we are open to new ones that you think are great:

  • Pen and paper
  • Sketch App
  • InVision
  • Adobe creative suite
  • Miro
