Renee Masi has more than 25 years of experience in the venture capital industry where she focused most recently on life science investing. Ms. Masi currently serves on the boards of Autonomix, CardiacMD, and SynergEyes. Prior to joining BioStar Ventures, Ms. Masi was a Partner with Windward Ventures, a firm focused on southern California early-stage companies, where she was responsible for the firm’s life science investing strategy. Ms. Masi was an advisor to Ventures Medical, a seed stage fund affiliated with the Texas Medical Center. In 1990, Ms. Masi opened the Boston office for Technology Funding, a $250 million venture capital fund based in San Mateo, California. She began her career as an investment banker in the healthcare finance group of Merrill Lynch. In addition to holding a BA from Stanford University and an MBA from The Wharton School of Business, Ms. Masi is also a member of the Board of Councilors for the USC Graduate School of Social Work.

Chase Coffman is Co-founder of Elektrofi, a Boston-based biotech that is working to enhance access to critical biologic medicines through a novel delivery platform. He holds a Ph.D. from MIT in Aeronautics and Astronautics and was formerly a Space Technology Research Fellow at the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).

For over 30 years, Mary Lou has assisted clients with patent preparation and prosecution, copyright registration, and portfolio management. Mary Lou’s approach with clients is to learn their business goals and then strengthen their positions in their industry by developing strong intellectual property strategies. She has particular experience with computer-related technologies and systems relating to imaging, video applications, mobile applications, machine learning, various platforms (cloud based, SaaS), virtual currency, solid modeling, simulations and mathematical models.

Larry is an experienced IP litigator, Ph.D. scientist, patent prosecutor, and trusted counselor in strategic IP matters, such as IP due diligence. Larry is a former judicial clerk to the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.  He is also a graduate of Yale Law School, Harvard University, and Duke University. As an IP litigator, Larry represents clients in patent, copyright, trademark and trade secret cases.  Clients rely on Larry’s integrated understanding of the legal and technical aspects of the case, which enables a thorough vetting of the issues and cost-effective analysis and delivery of solid, practical advice.
