Ed is a volunteer with MDG as a Co-Chair of the Sponsor Committee and a member of the Marketing Committee. Richard Evans

Richard's consulting practice has focused on using enhanced data management as an operational differentiator. In recent years, this approach has encompassed the use of "big data" predictive analytic modeling techniques in a variety of settings that have included the use of medical history data to identify at risk populations.


He is particularly interested in the potential for real time scoring of large data streams as might apply to highlighting anomalous events in data arriving from wearable devices.

David Powel

Medical Device Sales / Marketing


David is a proven medical device sales / professional, with experience at Ethicon, and awards at B Braun Medical, and Angiotech.He was part of a recent Reduction in Force, and is excitedly looking for the next Medical Device Opportunity.


He relocated to Massachusetts to work for a Contract Manufacturer of Vascular Access devices.David has a recent MBA from Temple University with courses in FDA regulations, Product Management, and Strategic Management.


David is getting to know Massachusetts from the air, flying as a part time Flight Instructor at East Coast Aero, at Norwood Airport.David served active duty as a Surface Warfare Officer in the U.S. Navy, and was promoted to Lieutenant Commander as a reservist.

Doug Browne

Doug Browne has over 25 years’ experience in biotechnology and medical device product development, focusing on mechanical design, plastics, and design transfer. As technical lead for the development and launch of over ten major new products, Doug has shown himself as an innovative designer with particular expertise in development of systems that include high volume custom consumables.


Doug earned a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Massachusetts, Lowell and holds multiple US and international patents.


From an early age, Doug has been passionate about cycling. With a love for ultra-long cycling trips, Doug has ridden an average of 4,500 miles every year for the past 20 years. He shares his passion with the community by fixing up old bikes and delivering them to a local Boys and Girls Club and homeless shelter.  "My bicycle has always been one of my best friends, so I can’t imagine a kid not having a bike growing up”, said Browne. To date, Doug has repaired and donated over 560 bikes!

Howard Lin, PhD, PMP

Howard is the founder of MedDev Scientific LLC (MDS) which specializes in providing technical consulting services to medical device and life sciences companies. Since the founding of MDS in 2015, Howard has helped a biotech startup design an implantable device to deliver cell-based therapy and has consulted for a firm analyzing the competitive effects of a pending merger in the medical device industry. He is committed to helping his clients succeed.


He was a co-champion of MDG’s April Forum which focused on the dynamic and fast-growing healthcare market in China. He is also a mentor of the Mentor Smart Program at MIT Enterprise Forum Cambridge and a Life Sciences/Medical Devices committee member at TechSandBox.


Howard is a biomaterials expert and has more than 20 years of experience in medical device product development, project management and biomaterials research. He has developed products and technologies to treat a wide range of medical conditions, including cardiovascular, peripheral vascular, metabolic, orthopedic and cardiac rhythm diseases. He has more than 20 issued and pending U.S. patents and over 10 scientific publications. He is also a certified project management professional (PMP) since 2006.


He holds a Ph.D. in chemical engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, a master’s in chemical engineering from Bucknell University and a B.S. in chemical engineering from National Taipei Institute of Technology (Taiwan).
