Peter Fuchs was formertly the Director Finance, International for Smith & Nephew. His previous experience includes senior global financial positions with Conagra Foods, Gateway Computers and the Swatch group in Hong Kong. He began his career as a CPA with Price Waterhouse. Mr Fuchs has demonstrated expertise in budgeting, forecasting, turnarounds and acquisitions in fast growing entrepreneurial environments. Mr Fuchs received an MBA from UCLA and a BS in economics with Lehigh University.

Then pursued international marketing with a Brazilian company before joining the orthopaedic industry as Vice President with J&J DePuy. Ended my corporate exposure as an EVP with Smith & Nephew and for the past ten years have been a consultant to medical device companies specializing in OR implantable technologies.

Positions/Career path in Medical Device/Technology Industry: Lisa is President/Executive Coach at Medical Development Partners, Inc.(2005-present), Past Co-Founder, CEO/President of Radi Medical Systems, Inc. (1998-2004) Lisa took a disruptive technology, changed physician's practice, obtained reimbursement, developed education based marketing strategies, a clinical sales force, and took the company from inception to $28M with profitability during her 6 year tenure. Lisa was recognized and ranked #28 out of 100 Women Led Businesses in Massachusetts in 2004. Prior to that, Lisa held Market Research and Product Management Positions at USCI; $100M Division of Bard Cardiology (1994-1998).Lisa is also a motivational speaker who has entertained audiences including entrepreneurs, business leaders, professionals, working mothers, people in transition as well as students, Lisa received a BBA in marketing and BA in economics from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and an MBA in Management from Bentley University.

Vice President/President Elect prior, and an additional 6 years on the MDG Board. During her tenure on the MDG Board Lisa worked as liaison to Sponsorship assisting with annual Sponsor breakfasts & meetings. Co-Program Chair with Jerry Shapiro during MDG 1st years - we planned 22 programs annually. Paul Hartung

Positions/Career path in Medical Device/Technology Industry: Paul has served as the President and CEO of Cognoptix, which is developing a game-changing combination product for early diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease, since 2004. He did the first syndicated Angel financing in the Northeast, followed by two rounds of venture capital, raising $17M for Cognoptix, and has led the Company’s transition from research to commercial development. He also did strategic deals with Pfizer and Merck. He has a long, proven track record as a life sciences executive with extensive scientific, strategic development and management experience in the laser and medical device industries. He has been an inventor on a number of patents.


Paul has launched successful startup businesses and served in executive positions with Fortune 500 organizations. Prior to Cognoptix, Paul was VP of Operations at Winphoria Networks, a successful mobile communications startup acquired by Motorola. Previously, he was Senior Director at 3Com Corporation, where he was involved in a number of mergers and acquisitions, and directed global operations and new product introductions. At Summit Technology, Inc. (successful IPO and acquired by Alcon) he was Manager of Manufacturing in charge of manufacturing operations for the leading developer of the LASIK procedure and other laser eye correction procedures. At Trumpf, he developed high power automated laser systems for industrial applications as Manager of Engineering and Service. As Director of R&D at Laser Fare Ltd., he developed new laser processing techniques for the medical device industry and other applications. Paul started his career as an Advanced Manufacturing Engineer at GE.


Paul graduated from MIT with an MS Degree in Mechanical Engineering. He received the FW Taylor Award of the College International pour la Recherche en Productique ("CIRP”, a/k/a the International Academy for Production Engineering) for his research. Paul is on the board of the Medical Development Group.


Positions held in and contributions made to MDG: Paul has been a featured speaker at several MDG events over the years on topics including combination products and technology transfer.He has served on the Board of Directors and as the Chairman of the Membership Committee since 2013. He has also helped forge alliances with MassBio and SoPE.

 

Ashley Sherman

Positions/Career path in Medical Device/Technology Industry:As a Medical Account Manager at Intertek, Ashley works with a vast array of leading medical device manufactures all across the east coast to provide testing, certification and consulting services, meeting local or global requirements. This role has given her insight and experience within many levels of an organization from CEO to project engineer as well as, providing access the newest innovation and advances in medical technology.

Ashley Sherman is currently a Director on MDG’s board. During the 2013-2014 term, she has contributed to decisions made in the efforts to improve the performance and growth of the organization. Many positive changes have occurred over the year for MDG and its imperative for Ashley to continue as a Director at Large to bring forward these efforts in the upcoming years.

Positions held in and contributions made to MDG:For the past 5 years Intertek has been a great supporter of MDG and its mission. Since 2011, she has assumed the role of the MDG liaison. In this role Ashley’s main responsibility is strengthening and expanding Intertek's close relationship with MDG. This includes but is not limited to, sponsorship contributions, providing a corporate meeting space and leveraging my network to identifying new members. Over the past year, she has sat on the Board of Directors for the MDG overseeing the operations and contributing feedback on business decisions affecting all aspects of the future growth of the organization. In addition, Ashley Co-Chairs for MDG’s sponsorships.

Peter Madras, MD

Peter N. Madras, MD, received his MD from McGill University and enjoyed a 30-year career as a transplant and vascular surgeon and associate professor of surgery at Harvard Medical School before joining the staff of Lahey Clinic eight years ago. Before becoming a surgeon, Dr. Madras was program director at the Avco Everett Laboratory which produced the Intra-Aortic Balloon pump which is still used for treatment of heart failure. Always involved in medical devices, Dr. Madras was medical director at Grace Biomedical working on biohybrid artificial organs, and principal investigator on three NIH grants in the past five years, developing novel devices for temporary blood flow interruption.
